About the Role

We are currently looking for a Shear Operator for 3rd shift that can ensure maximum productivity while maintaining adequate quality of Shearing equipment and work in safe condition.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strictly Comply to company JI and SOP
  • Setting up equipment as per ME provided set up sheet
  • Responsible to maintain targeted productivity and quality on Shear equipment
  • Check material compliance between shop order, operator instruction sheet and steel tag
  • Inform and escalate to supervisor to any process deviations
  • Completion of Quality Control and job specific paperwork
  • Maintain production orders compliance to production tubs
  • Loading of steel into shear bed equipment as required using overhead crane
  • Changing blades on shear to maintain billet quality and maintain records for Shear blade life tracking. Should be able to resharpen blades if needed
  • Adherence to 5S principles
  • Fulfilling thoroughly all tasks within the scope of defined qualifications and responsibilities
  • Maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Adherence to federal and local law regulations, internal policies and other applicable rules including ISO/TS 16949, ISO 18001, and ISO 16001 requirements
  • Responsible to maintain correct production codes for MPDV
  • Responsible to fill SAP notification for machine breakdown to notify maintenance    department
  • Maintaining and understanding material flow within the process
  • Completion of Quality Control and job specific paperwork
  • Maintain quality control charts for variable features on shears
  • Capability studies as required
  • Performing regular quality audits as required 
  • Perform steel receiving duties as required
  • Working with maintenance on regular preventative maintenance plans; responsible to do operator PM as required
  • Operation of forklift to increase productivity, whenever necessary
  • Other tasks as defined by billet prep management / supervision

 

Location & Commitments

  • Monday – Friday, Onsite Columbus OH
  • Permanent, Full Time, Third Shift 11:00 pm- 7:15 am (40 hour)
  • Overtime, Alternate shifts, and Weekends may be necessary for business needs

 

Candidate Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Forklift Certification and Overhead Certification
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic communication skills
  • Manufacturing experience preferred with sawing or shearing equipment.
